A Gwyr Lynx is a creature out of ancient myth that resembles a big cat with large sweeping ears and long canines. The Gwyr Lynx is a large cat, a feline in the Panthera genus, and can only be found in large forests.

The Gwyr Lynx is one of the fastest and most powerful creatures in the feline family. While dense forest is its preferred habitat, the Gwyr Lynx will range across a variety of forested terrain, though it rarely strays far from woodland areas, it will migrate across open terrain to find a better habitat. The Gwyr Lynx is a skilled climber, dragging prey much larger than itself high up into the canopy before feasting. They also sleep in trees. This feline also enjoys swimming and is a powerful swimmer, often stalking the shoreline or rivers for prey.

The Gwyr Lynx is a large solitary, stalk and ambush predator, and it is opportunistic in prey selection. It is also an apex predator, playing an important role in stabilizing ecosystems and regulating the populations of prey species. The Gwyr Lynx has an exceptionally powerful bite, even relative to the other big cats. This allows it to pierce the shells of armored reptiles and to employ an unusual killing method: using its long sturdy canines, it bites directly through the skull of prey between the ears to deliver a fatal bite to the brain.

Physical characteristics

The Gwyr Lynx is a large and well-muscled animal. Weights are normally in the range of 350-600 lb (though reports of much larger ones are not uncommon), Females are typically 10–20% smaller than males. The length of the cat varies from 4-8 ft, and its tail may add a further 2-3 ft. It stands about 30-72 in tall at the shoulders. They are adept at climbing, crawling and swimming. Able to reach speeds between 70 and 75 mph in short bursts covering distances up to 1,500 ft, and have the ability to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in three seconds.

The head is robust and the jaw extremely powerful with a pair of long canines that protrude from the mouth. This strength is an adaptation that allows the Gwyr Lynx to pierce shells or thick hide. It has been reported that an individual Gwyr Lynx can drag a 1800 lb bull 25 ft up a tree, in its jaws and pulverize the heaviest bones. The Gwyr Lynx hunts animals several times its size, and its powerful and sturdy physique is thus an adaptation to its prey and environment.

Other names for this creature are Elven Cats or Tigers, Elven Panther, Swift Death…
